The official rules and bylaws governing membership and activities at Avon Sailing Club.

The Avon Sailing Club Rule Book contains the complete set of rules, regulations, and bylaws that govern our club's operations and members' conduct. These rules are designed to ensure the safety, fair use, and enjoyment of our facilities for all members.

All members are expected to familiarize themselves with these rules upon joining the club. The rules cover aspects such as membership categories, sailing regulations, use of club facilities, safety procedures, and more.

Membership & General Conduct

  • • Members must adhere to all club rules and bylaws
  • • Membership fees must be paid on time as specified
  • • All members must contribute to the upkeep of the club
  • • Guests may be invited in accordance with guest policies
  • • Respectful conduct is expected at all times
  • • Members are responsible for keeping their contact information up to date

Sailing Rules

  • • All boats must be registered with the club
  • • Racing will be conducted according to Racing Rules of Sailing
  • • Members must observe appropriate sailing etiquette
  • • Sailing area boundaries must be respected
  • • Race officials' decisions are final
  • • All sailing activities must comply with club safety guidelines

Facilities & Property

  • • Club equipment must be used responsibly
  • • Facilities should be left clean and tidy after use
  • • Boat storage areas must be kept orderly
  • • Moorings are allocated by the committee
  • • No modifications to club property without approval
  • • Members are responsible for their own property

Environment & Considerations

  • • Environmental policies must be observed
  • • Noise to be kept to a minimum in consideration of neighbors
  • • Waste should be disposed of properly
  • • Wildlife and natural habitats must be respected
  • • Energy and water conservation is expected
  • • Respect the tranquility of the river environment

Policies & Management

Rule Updates & Governance

Club rules are reviewed and updated periodically by the Committee. Any changes to rules will be communicated to members via email and posted on the club notice board. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an opportunity for members to discuss and vote on proposed rule changes.
