Avon Sailing Club
The Club

The club is situated in the Gloucestershire countryside, about 3 miles south of Tewkesbury on the west bank of the river Severn.   We have a large well kept site, well off from the beaten track, with a clubhouse on the river bank.

The club has a healthy fleet of both cruising and racing members.   Members can use the club and sail on the river at any time between March and December.   The Club is shut up over January and February as the access roads and site are often flooded.

For sailors who prefer cruising, the club has 10 moorings for boats up to 16ft (5M).   We have a concrete slipway which can be used for launching at most river levels.   Up river you can cruise to Tewkesbury and beyond - the pub at the Lower Lode is a favourite summer's evening cruise.   Down river you can go all the way to Gloucester.

Racing takes place on a Sunday from 11.45 a.m. to 4 p.m.   If racing is not your scene, you can just cruise and potter, there's plenty of room on the water.   A rescue boat is on the water on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, and is the ideal time for training and gaining confidence.   The club is available to members at any time. Saturday sailing is popular during the summer, and we sail and/or BBQ on Wednesday evenings in June and July.

The club house has a full set of facilities including showers and changing rooms and a kitchen which everyone can use.   The galley is open on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays for lunch, and tea and coffee.   We have a bar which is open whenever a member of the bar committee is around.

The boat park is relatively large, and there's normally space available.   The club is liable to flooding, so many members take their boats home over the winter.   Boats left on site should always be tied up - remember 2007!

The club has a well kept field next to the club house and boat park which is used for summer camping.
