Training at Avon Sailing Club

The Avon Sailing club is an RYA recognised training centre.

The club is able to offer the following courses:

Dinghy Courses

• Dinghy Levels 1-3
• Dinghy Start Racing
• Dinghy Seamanship Skills
• Dinghy Performance Sailing
• Dinghy Sailing with Spinnakers
• Youth Sailing Scheme Stages 1-4

Powerboat Courses

• Powerboat Level 1 and Level 2
• Safety Boat Course

Theory Courses

• First Aid Course (subject to a suitably qualified first aid instructor running the course)

Courses are only available to members of the club and the coaches/instructors are all volunteers.

We have 6 RYA Level 2 race coaches, 2 RYA Senior Instructors, 1 RYA Instructor & 1 RYA Powerboat instructor.

2024 Training Dates

• Saturday 4th May & Saturday 25th May - Consolidation Sailing Days

  An opportunity for those who took courses last year and those that haven't sailed for a while to practice their skills with experienced sailors on hand. Adults am, families/young people pm.

• Sunday 26th May - Race training before sailing

• Wednesday evenings from 5th June - Powerboat Level 2

• Saturday 17th - Monday 19th August - Assistant Dinghy Instructor

• Monday 19th - Friday 23rd August - Avon Week training, details to follow nearer the time.
